I.Brief Introduction

Hainan Medical University is located in Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan Province which has been running for over 72 years, It shoulders the mission of training high-level medical and health talents for China (Hainan) free trade experimental and the construction of free trade ports with Chinese characteristics, as well as the initial of "one belt and one way" and the strategy of South China Sea.

The main campus in Chengxi base area covers an area of 606.21 mu, Branch Campus in Guilinyang base area covers an area of 868.35 mu. HMU has 4 affiliated hospitals with over 7500 open beds. It also has doctoral education, master degree education, foreign student education, general undergraduate education, higher vocational and adult education and other multi-level education qualifications, the existing clinical medicine first-tier discipline doctorate science degree authorization point; Basic medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, biology and other 5 first-tier disciplines master degree authorization point, clinical medicine, public health, nursing, pharmacy, stomatology and other 5 master degree authorized majors. There are 27 undergraduate majors, covering four disciplines: medicine, science, management and engineering.The total enrollment at present is 12827 students,among with 9121 undergraduates (including 580 foreign students), 592 postgraduates (including 22 postgraduates studying abroad).The present staff number of HMU and its 4 affiliated hospitals are 10625,and there are  923 full-time teachers with master’s and doctor’s degree that accounting for 84.58% of full-time teachers, 397 doctorates (37.1%), 142 professors (13.27%) and 212 associate professors (19.81%).There are 21 Doctoral supervisors,277master supervisors,8 Doctoral supervisors co-developed with Nanjing Medical University, 7 flexible introduction for talents, 3 Yangtze River Scholars, 1 high-level talent of “1000 Talents Plan”, 30 experts with special allowance from State Council, 5 selected for National Talents Project, 4 selected for New Century Talent Project and 6 selected as the Excellent Talent of Hainan Province,1 famous teacher in traditional Chinese medicine universities around the country and 22 outstanding contribution experts at the provincial and ministerial level. At the same time, our university also engages over 80 famous professors at home and abroad as visiting professors.

The school also has 6 academician workstations and 2 postdoctoral research workstations.In cooperation with the Hong Kong University, the school has established the Hainan Medical University-University of Hong Kong Tropical Infectious Diseases Joint Laboratory.

With the construction of Hainan international tourism island, One Belt One Road construction, national strategy of South China Sea, China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Free trade port with Chinese characteristics and in order to strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation with tropical and developed countries and regions.At present, HMU possesses the largest scale of undergraduate education for international students in Hainan Province, having been recruiting students from 32 countries.HMU has cooperated with some universities as: University of Utah in the U.S., University of Nebraska in the U.S., Newcastle University in Britain, Queensland University of Technology in Australia, Chonnam National University in Korea, University of Navamin in Thailand, University of Tehran in Iran, Taipei Medical University in Taiwan in undergraduate exchange, joint training of master and doctoral students.

Notes:

1. In accordance with the relevant China’s laws and regulations, international students shall live in the students' dormitories in the first year, from the second year students can apply to live outside of school.

2. The fees for Chinese program will be subject to the provisions of the agreement.

IV. Application Procedures

1. Application Form for International Students in Hainan Medical University.

Download and print from the school website, fill the form carefully and a picture is needed.  

Note: to apply for scholarships, the application form for the international student scholarship of the Hainan provincial government should be submitted simultaneously.

2.Submission of relevant materials:

(1) Originals or Copies of senior high school transcripts and certificates should be provided with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

(2) Copies of passports (passports with valid duration)

(3) Notarized criminal state statement; non Chinese and English texts should be attached with corresponding notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Possible documents for comprehensive abilities, such as HSK certificate, award-winning certificate and related recommendation letters shall be submitted with application. Priority will be given when accepted.

★Priority for TOEFL scored >=78 or IELTS scored>= 6

★ Color blindness, color weakness shall not apply medical specialties (freshmen will be checked color blindness and color weakness for final admission)

★ Submitted materials are not refundable..

4. All materials will be submitted to the designated mailbox in due time and enclosed the applicant's contact number.

V. Application Time

1. Chinese program

Deadline for application: Before 15th, March

Deadline for registration: Before 15^th , April.  

Those who are overdue will not be accepted.

2.Medical undergraduates

Deadline for application: Before 1^st, June.

Deadline for registration of undergraduates: Before 30^th, October.

Those who are overdue will not be accepted.

★ Application materials must be sent to the school before 1^st, June.

Applicants for scholarships should send relevant materials before 15^th, April, 2020.

 

VI . Admission Process

1. Application for admission.

Please send all application materials to the designated school mailbox.

2. Evaluation of the admission’s qualification.

Our school will organize the relevant teaching staff to conduct the qualification test for the admission.

3. Visa formalities.

After receiving the admission notice and JW202 form sent by our school, students should go to the Chinese embassy or consulate general as soon as possible to complete the visa formalities.

4 Registration.

Within the time stipulated in the admission notice, the originals and copies of the relevant materials such as the admission notice, the JW202 form, the original copy of the certificate, the original passport, 2 passport photos and other related materials as well as all the fees are directly submitted to the school.

Warm Tip: Applicants must register on time according to the date of admission notice.Those failing to register on time should provide proof materials to ask for leave from our school ahead of time, not exceeding maximum two weeks.Deferred registration is required with permit from the school,otherwise the admission.will be automatically cancelled.

★Airport pickup is available if informing to us the flight information in advance within the specified registration time.

★According to China’s law, freshmen should register immediately on arrival at the school within 24 hours and make registration of accommodation at local police station or punishment for violation.

 

VII. Scholarships

Scholarship of Hainan provincial government for International Student

Our school has the allocations in International Student Scholarships of the Hainan provincial government every year. The funding period is 6 years for undergraduate students and 3 years for master's degree students. Applicants should apply to the Admission Office of School of International Education of Hainan Medical University within the specified time. Application time is often from early March to early April.
