Hainan Medical University offers 31 undergraduate programmes to students from 31 provinces and regions nationwide. The programmes offered are Clinical Medicine, Stomatology, Medical Imaging, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Preventive Medicine, TCM, Clinical Medicine of Chinese and Western Medicine, Acupuncture and Massage, Rehabilitation Therapeutics, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Health Inspection and Quarantine, Nursing, Midwifery, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy, Chinese Pharmacology, Marine Pharmacy, Labor and Social Security, Marketing, Public Utilities Management, Health Service and Management, Information Management and Information System, Medical Information Engineering, Bioinformatics, Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, Applied Statistics, and Applied Psychology. The programmes of Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology and Preventive Medicine have been approved as national first-class undergraduate programme construction sites, and a total of 7 programmes including Medical Imaging and TCM, has been approved as provincial first-class undergraduate programme construction sites.
The university owns 101 practice and training bases. The three affiliated hospitals, the Affiliated Hainan Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital, are all Grade III Level A hospitals. The Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the Clinical College of TCM of Hainan Medical University. In addition, the university has 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals and 12 teaching hospitals, which provide a strong support for the clinical teaching of the university. Always being open and responsive, the university has established cooperative relations with prestigious international and domestic universities such as the University of Nebraska, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Nanjing Medical University etc. The international students of our university come from 48 different countries worldwide.
In 2005, the university passed the evaluation of undergraduate programme for ordinary colleges and universities with merit. In 2014, the university was given accreditation for the programme of Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy by the Ministry of Education. In 2017, we successfully passed another round of evaluation of undergraduate programme for ordinary colleges and universities. At the national level, the university has 2 national characteristic specialties, 1 national demonstration center for experiment teaching, 1 national demonstration center for clinical teaching and training , 1 national premium open video course, 1 pilot project of national college educational informatization programme, 5 prominent doctor training programs of the Ministry of Education, and 2 pilot projects of the comprehensive reform on college programmes of the Ministry of Education. At the provincial level, the university possesses 10 provincial characteristic specialties, 6 provincial application-oriented undergraduate programmes, 2 provincial demonstration centers for experiment teaching , 7 provincial teaching teams, 19 provincial premium courses, 13 provincial premium online open courses, 16 provincial first-class undergraduate courses. The university adheres to the principle of student-centeredness and promotes the all-round development of students. The students have won the special award of the Pharmacy and Chinese Pharmacy Experiment Teaching Reform Contest for Medical and Pharmaceutical Colleges in China, the first prize of the National Mathematical Contest in Modeling for College Students, and the first prize of the Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz in China. In the past two evaluations on teaching achievements, the university has won 7 provincial-level prizes, including 3 first prizes and 4 second prizes.
